Live literature every third Sunday
Sunday 19 October, 5:00pm, RESPONDERS
Gale Burns, Keith Jarrett, Selina Rodrigues – Three poets of different ethnicities, backgrounds, social class and sexuality come together and, in a fluid structure, listen to each other’s poems and respond spontaneously by reading their own. This provides a unique and contemporary reading that focuses on connections as well as differences, and is in contrast to the traditionally rigid structure of sectioned readers.
This can also bring about a range of themes and an overall coherent performance. It can include prompts or even participation with poetry by the audience. Through this collaboration, the poets have identified common themes of conflict and solidarity in family, the influence and contemplation of faith and cultural traditions and isolation and delight.
ALSO…
London-based Natalie Shaw will be reading her poems designed to unsettle the everyday, and Peter Marinker will be reading his own works and poems and texts by Samuel Beckett.

The world changes: we make new poetry to vandalise literary forms or retrieve those we need to renew. We make new poetry to hybridise new species of understanding and reframe consciousness. We make new poetry to have a good time.
