They come from across Africa
and from the Middle East
and from further East,
masses on the move from lands
once colonised or still effectively
colonised, on the move from lands
debased by war and despotic regimes.
debased by climatic changes too,
changes created by wealthier lands
and the wealthier lands don’t want them
because of the crises created by their rich,
by their super- rich seeking more riches
at the expense of their own poor masses
and the masses who are on the move,
and by pitting their own poor against
the poor masses who are on the move
they hope to achieve invisibility as well
as inviolability as both sets of mass poor
face each other rather than come together.
In the past it was the Irish and the Jews,
then it became the Windrush generation
and those from the Commonwealth,
their differences of faith and skin colour
exploited to keep necessary division,
and it is the same today with the masses
on the move, the new convenient scapegoats,
while the architects of chaos remain inviolate
and also remain filthy rich.
