Where Is Our Voice?

Where Is Our Voice?

We were told a new world arose
from the ashes of the second world war
its collective narrative-
Peace at all costs
Respect for borders,
We believed
All citizens are equal, all have a voice
Never again will dark ego hold reign
never again will king babies rule.

But what do we do now
when plunged back into the darkness,
when king babies
living in their golden towers
seize power
fire missiles across sovereign borders
murdering civilians
burying children in the rubble of their greed
their rhetoric righteous
their trophy more assets, power and land
to satiate their debauched egos

We watch this on our screens
we see the brave attempt to bring food to the hungry
but they are stopped,
we see the conquerors erect apartheid walls,
blow up the starving
they’ve lured with promise of rations
the leaders of the democratic world watch this play out,
side with the king babies and do nothing.
We are helpless spectators at a gross drama
in which we are not allowed a part,

We have no voice.
