Monopoly

You can barely afford to live,
go back to Old Kent Road.

COMMUNITY CHEST
Your empty houses have been
given to the homeless;
advance three spaces.

You try to get out of London
via Euston station,
miss a turn.

You run pell-mell down
Pall Mall to
wave a flag at the king;
collect three
patriotic comments
from each player.

CHANCE
You take part in a protest:
Go to jail.
Go directly to jail.
Do not pass GOV,
do not collect £200.

Power cuts affect your town;
increase bill by 7%.

At Bow Street,
you realise that there is a two-tier
policing system where you can’t
say anything without getting arrested
but murderers and gangs go free
cos they’re not the doctors and
lawyers we were promised and
I blame the mayor and Enoch
was right.

You are hounded by Fleet Street
for being gay;
go back 30 years.

HS2 is coming through your estate,
sell your house;
do not pass GOV,
do not collect £200.

Piccadilly.
You want go and see
Miss Saigon;
you must mortgage your
houses for a ticket.

Your water is brown,
the river full of dead fish;
Water Works charge more.

The name’s Street, Bond Street.

Oligarchs and hedge-funders
own Mayfair and Park Lane;
pass GOV, collect £1Bn.

Keep moving
go back
pay rent
roll dice;
build communities,
change the game.
