As Michelangelo’s collecting marble
From the local quarry
And his lads load up the cart
He spots a cracked green chunk
Propping open an old shed door
So casually asks, “How much?”
“Nothing,” says the quarryman,
“But why do you want that at all?”
“What you see,” Michelangelo replies,
“Is something useless,
Deeply flawed
But with my hammer and chisel
I’ll flake away that marble shell,
Gestate an embryo angel:
Give it birth.”
