‘Untitled Bench Painting (Palestine)’ by Narbi Price

By Mike Jenkins

Pencils? For writing, of course,
But above all weapons to put out eyes.

Wheelchairs for those disabled by bombs,
But vitally parts for Hamas’ guns.

Solar panels and energy from the sun;
Yet they provide shields for terrorists.

Aluminium poles for many tents,
Each a potential missile.

Generators because they have no power
Would be used in the tunnels of ….yes, Hamas.

Green sleeping bags for all with no beds;
The perfect camouflage for enemies.

Water purification tablets with everything contaminated;
They (you know who) would use for themselves.

Electronic components for hospital machinery,
To build more lethal devices no doubt.

Vehicle parts? For the cars and lorries ….
Used and controlled by Hamas.

We inspect them thoroughly. So much suspicious!
We stop the aid trucks. Dual purpose!
