His Master’s Voice

His Master’s Voice

Right turn, left turn, U-turn

By Paul Francis, with image above by Martin Gollan

“We could end up as strangers in our land
if immigration gets out of control.”
Deliberate provocation, understand?
Has Labour’s leader sacrificed its soul?

No way, insists the man from Number Ten:
“Keir Starmer stands by every word he said
Mass immigration’s been a massive blight
and he’d be glad to say those words again.”

That was in May, but by the end of June
Starmer’s had second thoughts. “I should have read
the speech more carefully.” He’s changed his tune.
“It echoed Enoch Powell. That’s not right.”

How do we tell which is the voice of Keir?
Which is the puppet? Who’s the puppeteer?
