YASSER ABU SHABAB

YASSER ABU SHABAB

War generates inevitably
A quisling soup of gore and cash
A huckster slime
That seeps across each well-drawn
Hard-fought
Line.

A Haw-Haw, a Vichy stooge
Willing to ‘fight in front of Paris,
in Paris, and behind Paris.
‘ (1)
But mostly behind
With a Stakenife
To the
Back.

Rexists making a sacrament
Of Jewish blood,
Civil War hucksters
Selling cardboard soles,
Resistance one more opportunity
For new Iscariots, new Ganelons
To machinate, connive.

You stole aid from convoys at Kerem Shalom.
Spied for the Occupation, killed on its orders,
Carried its guns. Under its guard
Stored medical supplies, clean water and food
As collaborators’ booty to control the black market
Robbed grain from starving children while feeding your own;
Shin Bet proxy; Gaza’s Saad Haddad;
Zionist assassin, drug dealer,
Genocide’s gangster-stooge
Tobacco baron, people smuggler,
Tout, embezzler; torn apart by your own,
In internecine hustling; here comes another
To sponge up your plunder;
From shadows to stage here’s Ghassan Al-Dheini;
Another page of shame falls open.

And here’ s a handful of silver
Hurled at your head; a bang of the pan;
And a knock knock knock
At the caravan door
