These are a people who,
denied earthly resources,
have already – for time,
times and a half-time – built
beauty with their bare hands
in destitution. A people
supremely skilled in
making deserts of human
destruction bloom, in taking
tools of Invention from
the womb of Necessity;
who know the dead are raised
again and again, even – and
especially – in a confinement.
These are a people who know
The Promised Land.
A people who understand
you do not get here
by pocketing Almighty God,
by seizing the Scriptures.
This is a people who
honour The Promiser –
a visible incarnation of
Divine Resilience and Love;
who, according to what
is promised, are those
who shall inherit the Earth –
let alone the Land.
