Joe Solo’s new album, Punk Rock Prepared Us For This, goes up for pre-order on Friday 6 February on CD, vinyl and download. Anyone who pre-orders will get access to two singles ahead of the full release.
The first single, Rise Up! Rise Up!, launches with a video on Monday 2 February. It features long-term collaborators Commoners Choir, with Boff Whalley on piano. As the title suggests, it’s a direct call to resist the rise of far-right populism.
The second single arrives on Thursday 5 February, the day before the album pre-order opens. I Wrote This Song To Be Sung is a sharp, catchy criticism of the government’s steady erosion of the right to protest and oppose. It features Steve White & The Protest Family.
As ever, this is music made for collective use rather than passive listening. Songs meant to be sung together.
