but we never really liked war
it killed our Dads’ Dads’ Dads
that left our sons’ sons’ sons
to become ‘professional’ at
killing whilst learning how
to clean a gun & boots. sure
it was fun when we were kids
to manoeuvre men in green
plastic togs on our tea table
back when war was a given
now war is back in fashion
& the fashion is to extract
young men from providing
a point of view against their
own death. history is a wise
atrocity picking apart pock-
marked policies from royal
cousins & plutocratic clowns.
our sons sit safely watching
older sons carry boy babies
out of dusty slabs so later
in their life they can be killed
when they reach for the guns
they were given to protect
rich men from stopping
other rich men who want
their fortune to rise higher
so they can say to their sons
work hard & you won’t end up
holding a gun like poorer sons
who are bred for this. so don’t
take this personally but can you
send your own sons from now on
so we won’t have to take it all
so very personally anymore.
