Culture Matters is proud to present an online double-header featuring the poetic stylings of CM stalwarts Fran Lock and Alan McGuire.
Fran will read from Love is Stronger than Death: Mary Magdalene and the Insurrection of Jesus, a collection which explores the love between Mary Magdalene and Jesus and its relationship to Jesus’ call for radical personal and political transformation.
Alan will read from his recently published collection The Last Days of Alicante, which combines a vivid account the final days of the Spanish Civil War in March 1939, with an attentive evocation of the sights and sounds of everyday life in the city. The ghost of Miguel Hernández doesn’t so much haunt the poems as guide the reader through them in an act of solidarity that spans time itself.
Expect socialist shenanigans and a surprising number of laughs. Join us, why not?
