Labour Sets You Free

Labour Sets You Free

On the ‘Labour’ Government’s despicable Pathways to Work Green Paper announced on 18 March 2025

by Alan Morrison

Labour will set you free, deny your disability,
Neoliberalism is neoableism—
Still too sick to work? Then you can die, assistedly.

The Tories were too soft, pussyfooted cruelty,
Starmerites embrace a mace Malthusianism—
Labour will set you free, deny your disability,

Scapegoat the casualties of decades of austerity,
Stigmatise the mentally ill for absenteeism
Holding the country back—to work! Or die, assistedly.

Balancing the books on the poorest in society,
Welfare cuts worse than Duncan Smith’s salami slicing,
Labour sets you free, denies your disability.

Betrayal of the vulnerable, Starmer’s speciality,
Having betrayed the Labour movement, Corbyn, & socialism.
Still too sick to work? Then you can die, assistedly.

It took one coal miner Keir to raise the Labour Party
& a second lawyer Keir to bury it in history’s dustbin—
Labour sets you free, denies your disability.
Still too sick to work? Then you can die, assistedly.
