The least I can do is use a capital C for Carer
by Rob Walton
My sister tells me/when mum was on the floor/
having fallen/Carer A/and Carer J/got down/
on the floor/with her/waiting for the paramedic/
and the fact of this/and other similar matters/
is that/for minimum wage/Carers B/C/D/E/F/
G/H/I/and K-Z/would get down/on the floor/
with any of our mums/and dads/because/
that’s what they do/because/that’s what they did/
because/that’s what they will do/because/well/
humanity/and I’d like them all/to get off the floor/
and be lifted/high/and higher/where they belong/
and given a proper wage/rather than a poem.
