With its two eyes
It flies
Yellow sun strung –
The boy tests the challenges
Of the sea breeze –
Overhead the shadow of a ‘copter
Which spies every move.
His home is a strip of sand –
There are too many yellow lines
To step over.
He’s committing a crime
Punishable by death.
They own the air
With their drones –
He should know better .
His kite rises
Balanced like a gull on the wind –
It looks down on him
Dipping and almost falling
As he runs in the aim
Of bullets to brain.
Its eyes never close
Defy their haters –
Holding tight as if
The only thing that matters
Were his own paper colours
Staying high in the sky.
